Maritime College of Forest Technology Appoints First Female Board Chair

TRURO HEIGHTS, NS – March 30, 2023 – The Forestry Sector Council and the Maritime College of Forest Technology (MCFT) are pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Boyd as the first female Chair on the Board of Governors. Boyd, who is currently the Executive Director of the Forestry Sector Council, has made history as the first woman to hold this position in the school’s 77 years of operation.
As the Chair of the Board of Governors, Heather Boyd will provide strategic oversight and direction for the institution alongside the other 11 members of the board.
Heather is excited to take on this new role, stating “I am honoured to have been elected as the first female Chair of the Board of Governors for MCFT. We are well-positioned to continue the progress and momentum generated under the strong leadership of former Chair, Steven Hansen. I look forward to working with my fellow board members to ensure the continued success of this important institution. The college is embracing change as we strive to ensure the forestry industry is inclusive to everyone.”
