Overview
We are seeking a Chief Power Engineer to lead the safe and efficient operation of our power systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and innovation in support of our production goals.  The Chief Power Engineer will oversee maintenance and facility management and ensure our production processes run smoothly.  This leadership role is critical to ensuring operations excellence and supporting the mill’s long-term growth.  This is a unique opportunity to join a company that values technical excellence, teamwork, and community while offering a stable and rewarding career path.
Responsibilities:
  • Champion the highest safety standards across production and operations, ensuring compliance and a culture of safety-first.
  • Provide strong, hands-on leadership, fostering collaboration and building effective working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of 4th Class Power Engineers, guiding their professional growth and performance.
  • Coordinate crews to achieve maintenance, production, and quality targets, balancing efficiency with reliability.
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including two boilers and 14 kilns, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely operational documentation and reporting, supporting smooth communication and compliance.
  • Contribute to long-term operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mill performance.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification (mandatory requirement).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in power engineering, with proven responsibility for boiler and kiln operations.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership, consistently promoting and demonstrating safe work practices and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience supervising and mentoring power engineers.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve complex mechanical and operational problems, with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent decision-making and organizational skills, able to manage priorities and maintain efficiency under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across departments and with diverse teams.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production and quality targets.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs, for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong team player mindset, contributing to a positive and productive workplace culture.
Compensation: $38.00 - $40.00/hr, commensurate with experience
Total Compensation Package includes:

Relocation:
Relocation assistance may be available, including temporary housing in a company-provided house near the mill to help you settle in.
