Description
J.D. Irving, Limited, NS Woodlands Division is currently seeking candidates for Forest Products Truck Driver (Class 1). Operations will take place within Nova Scotia. Forest Products Truck Driver will be expected to operate the truck in a safe, efficient and productive manner according to J.D. Irving, Limited’s Best Management Practices and maintain all legal requirements for operation on public roads. The Truck Driver will be required to maintain production and utilization targets, and work independently in remote environments Work will consist of short haul routes, with drivers being able to return home at the end of each shift.
Compensation: Competitive Pay Rate up to at $32/hour. Wages based on experience and ability. Increases are also based on productivity assessments during the course of employment.
Terms of Employment: Permanent role, Full-time hours guaranteed.
Employment Location: Job sites where work will occur are located throughout Colchester County, Cumberland County, and Pictou County, with some possible travel to the HRM.
Responsibilities
- Operate and drive the truck in a safe, efficient, and productive manner according to J.D. Irving, Limited’s Best Management Practices
- Maintain productivity, production and utilization targets, and work independently in remote environments
- May be assigned to related/ancillary tasks for short periods of time including but not limited to: equipment maintenance, tidying work areas, training, harvest and boundary line layouts, road maintenance activities, forest fire prevention activities
Qualifications
- Education Required: High School diploma at a minimum
- Language: English language work environment
- Years of Experience Required: 2-5 years of truck driving experience, preferably operating a logging truck in off-highway conditions
- Valid Class 1 Drivers License or equivalent with no restrictions and a clear drivers abstract
- Proven ability to operate manual transmission trucks, with recent experience preferred
- General truck mechanical skills will be considered and asset
