FORSEC Photo and Collage Contests

To celebrate National Forest Week, FORSEC is inviting you to take part in our first ever photo and collage contests! This year’s theme for the contests will be Wood.

Contests are open from September 20th and September 26th, 2026.

Photo Contest

Rules

  • The contest is open to Nova Scotia residents.
  • Photos must be taken by the person submitting the entry.
  • Photos may be taken anywhere in Nova Scotia.
  • Each participant may submit up to 2 photos.
  • By entering, participants give the Forestry Sector Council permission to share their photograph, name and submitted description through FORSEC’s website, social media and other communications related to National Forest Week and forest education.

The winning photographer will receive a FORSEC swag bag.

How to enter

  • Submit your photograph electronically to info@forsec.ca by Sept 27, 2026 at 11:59pm.
  • Please include:
  • Name
  • Email
  • Your photograph
  • A short caption telling us about your photo and how it connects to the theme

Collage Contest*

Individual Entries

  • The contest is open to Nova Scotia residents.
  • Collages may be physical or digital.

Physical collages should be photographed or scanned for submission.

By entering, participants give the Forestry Sector Council permission to share their collage, name and submitted description through FORSEC’s website, social media and other communications related to National Forest Week and forest education.

The winning individual will receive a FORSEC swag bag.

Classroom Entries

Nova Scotia classrooms can also work together to create a class collage!

Students can work together on one large collage, combine individual pieces into one class creation, or come up with their own creative approach.

  • Classroom entries must be created collaboratively by students.
  • Each class may submit one collaborative entry.
  • Physical collages can be submitted as a clear photograph or scan.

The winning classroom will receive a pizza party!

How to enter

  • Individual submissions should include:
  • Name
  • Email
  • A short description of the collage and how it connects to the theme

Classroom submissions should include:

  • School name
  • Grade/class
  • Teacher’s name
  • Teacher’s email/contact information
  • A photograph, scan or digital copy of the completed collage
  • A short description of the class’s creation and how it connects to the theme

Collages can incorporate photographs, drawings, magazine or newspaper clippings, paper, natural materials, fabric, recycled materials, or other creative elements.
